Commenting on the news that train punctuality on the Scotland to London West Coast Main Line is still below the national average despite a £9billion upgrade, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:
"People have put up with immense disruption on this line for many years to get this upgrade. The very least they should be able to expect eight months on is for these trains to be running on time.
"Teething problems with this route are simply unacceptable. The train operators and Network Rail need to work together and redouble their efforts to cut delays on this route.
"With rail travel in Britain the most expensive in Europe, passengers have the right to expect a good and reliable service. Until that happens, Network Rail bosses should see their bonuses severely curtailed."
