Commenting on the changes at the Scotland Office, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said: "I commend David Laws' personal dignity in desperately difficult circumstances.

"I'm pleased that Michael Moore becomes Secretary of State for Scotland. He is a very close personal friend and I look forward to working with him on important Scottish issues.

"I also welcome Danny Alexander's move to the Treasury, particularly given the important taxation changes coming down the line to Scotland."
