Commenting on the public spending cuts forecast released today by the Chief Economic Adviser, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:

"Given that the Scottish Government is now publishing its official forecast, it needs to present to parliament on its return from recess, the areas where it will make reductions to allow for proper debate.

"We cannot wait until Christmas for proper parliamentry scrutiny.

"Given the seriousness of the public finances, the SNP need to more transparent with how they intend to make reductions in their budget."
