Commenting on the news that sales figures have risen by 0.5% in the second quarter of 2010 in Scotland but that the Scottish economy is still lagging behind the UK, Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Mike Rumbles MSP said:
"With zero growth recorded in the first three months of this year in Scotland, it is unsurprising that Scottish consumer confidence continues to be lower than the rest of the UK.
"While it is encouraging that a small increase in sales was recorded, the Scottish Government must work jointly with the UK Government to capitalise on this growth and address the difficulties that the Scottish economy is facing
