Commenting on the latest statistics which show that 55% of all mental health inpatients are re-admissions, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"The continued cycle of readmissions for psychiatric patients in Scotland is worrying. I am concerned that this figure has not significantly improved in the last year.
"Those with mental health problems need to be cared for in the way that suits their needs best.
"While some patients may have to be readmitted for their own well being, other patients may be being discharged too early.
"This cycle of readmissions is not good for patients, their families, or the NHS. I want to see tailored mental health care, not revolving door hospitals."
